Junpei Mori / 森 純平

Architect / Project Associate Professor, Tokyo University of the Arts

Born in Malaysia in 1985. Completed his Master's degree at the Graduate School of Fine Arts (Architecture), Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2011, and founded MADLABO in Matsudo the same year — the beginning of a practice that treats the city, rather than the drawing board, as the site of architecture.

1985年マレーシア生まれ。2011年東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科(建築専攻)修了。同年、松戸でMADLABOを立ち上げる — 製図板ではなくまちを建築の現場として扱う実践のはじまり。

Since 2013 he has been a founding director of PARADISE AIR, an artist-in-residence in Matsudo where more than 450 artists from around the world have stayed. In 2019 he co-founded Interrobang Inc., a practice for architecture, sound and art, and became co-director of VIVA, an art and learning hub occupying an entire floor of the Toride Station building. He co-designed the Hachinohe Art Museum (with Tezzo Nishizawa and Yoshihide Asako), awarded the JIA Grand Prize of Japan Architecture 2023. Since 2021 he has directed YAU (Yurakucho Art Urbanism), opening the business core of Tokyo to artists.

2013年よりアーティスト・イン・レジデンス PARADISE AIR を設立しディレクターを務める(これまでに450組以上のアーティストが滞在)。2019年、建築・音・アートの株式会社インテロバングを設立、同年より取手駅ビルの「たいけん美じゅつ場 VIVA」共同ディレクター。西澤徹夫・浅子佳英と共同設計した八戸市美術館はJIA日本建築大賞2023を受賞。2021年からは有楽町アートアーバニズム YAU をディレクションし、東京のビジネス街をアーティストにひらいている。

Since 2024, as a Project Associate Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, he has served as Director of The Way Of, a project systematizing methodologies for the social implementation of art. In March 2026 he opened GEIDAI NY DESK in New York City, the university's first overseas base. Beyond buildings, he designs the invisible structures — institutions, residencies, communities — through which culture enters everyday life.

2024年より東京藝術大学特任准教授として、アートの社会実装の手法を体系化するプロジェクト The Way Of のディレクターに就任。2026年3月、大学初の海外拠点 GEIDAI NY DESK をニューヨークに開設。建物にとどまらず、制度・レジデンス・コミュニティといった不可視の構造を設計することで、文化が日常に入り込む回路をつくっている。
